Although I LOVE spending time with my husband and kids, taking them places, exploring various things, there is something I have also learned to enjoy…time alone. It took a while raising 4 kids and being married but I eventually learned the power of having a balanced life. I'm reminded of that at this moment, sitting on the trolley with my two younger children while my son lays his heavy sweet head on my shoulders.
What is a balanced life? It’s really not that complicate. It's making sure you make time for people that matter in your life and that includes you, me. I matter, we matter. Being a mom isn't about doing every activity under the sun while neglecting yourself. What good is an empty pot in a room of hungry children and a spouse? My kids stay hungry-and my husband. I cant serve from an empty container. Therefore, I make sure I make time for me. Some may say it's selfish and for those people...so.
When was the last time you evaluated your time to make sure you include yourself in your routine? Some things I do weekly to make sure I can refresh myself and get refueled are very simple. Here are a few...
Go for a walk
Go to the store, any store
Grab dessert
Read
Pray and study a devotional
Go for a drive
Sit alone in a corner with a snack
Scroll on Social Media (yes, I said it! lol)
I always feel so much better when I make time for myself. Then, I can continue making meaningful memories with my family.
